An Inviting Escape
I’ve been places… incredibly beautiful places. For some reason I keep coming back to the Lost River Valley. Walking through the desert, I am surrounded by sagebrush and lava and I am smitten by the incredible diversity of life at my feet. I can see for miles. Then, abruptly, the desert becomes the mountains. I am not sure where the first step of incline begins, but I am positive that I don’t want it to end. The smell of earth and juniper on the breeze sends me straightaway into my childhood. Then there’s that dang river….that resplendent jewel called the Big Lost. Her name is steeped in tradition and lore, but her waters calm me and whisper an age old story into my ear. I am breathless. My favorite places are here. Places I have made my own, but I hold strong to the sentiment that something else is out there. Something I have yet to find. Be watchful. I am not alone. It will do the same thing to you, and you won’t regret one fading second of it.
